Course Description

This introductory to novice level 3-day course will be of value to those involved in crime scene investigation, processing & documentation, review or supervision and interpretation or testimony related to projectile impact damage at the scene of a shooting incident. Our live-fire, hands-on exercises will ensure that you are exposed to the latest tools & techniques available to process shooting scenes with accuracy and efficiency. Course highlights: o Principles of projectile path determination o Full-day of live-fire & hands-on exercises o Identifying and documenting projectile damage to various common surfaces/materials o Identifying the direction of projectile damage o Differentiating primary from non-primary projectile damage o Determining and documenting projectile paths (trajectories) o Accuracy & uncertainty in projectile path analysis o Introduction to 3D laser scanning of shooting scenes About your instructor: This course is designed and presented by Darryl Barr, a Forensic Scientist with over 30 years of experience in the examination and reconstruction of shooting incidents across Canada. Darryl stays current with the issues and latest techniques in shooting reconstruction by attending annual training seminars and workshops. Darryl provides training nationally and internationally on this topic, and has provided expert testimony in all levels of court across Canada, as well as for public inquiries and military courts martial. Darryl was also a pioneer in introducing 3D computer modeling of shooting incidents to Canadian courtrooms early in his career.
