Course Description
Suspected firearm suppressors offer unique challenges when it comes to examination and evaluation as a potential Prohibited Device. Bulletproof Forensic Consulting will help you navigate this challenging area of legal classification. Our experienced instructor will guide you through: Sound theory & psychoacoustics; Criminal Code definitions & law enforcement bulletins; suppressor theory & design principles; testing procedures & instrumentation; and frequently encountered devices and designs (including the latest 3D printed designs). This unique 2-day course includes class exercises that will test your understanding by having you design & construct your own improvised suppressors, after which they will be tested and evaluated. You'll gain valuable first-hand knowledge and unique experience to help boost your credibility as an expert in examining and classifying suspected firearm suppressors. About your instructor: This course is designed and presented by Darryl Barr, a Forensic Scientist with over 30 years of experience in examining and classifying firearms and prohibited devices. Darryl is well-informed on the current challenges with examining and classifying suppressors, and has experience assisting Crown prosecutors and investigators nationally with issues involving suppressor examination and legal classification. Darryl was a recent representative and co-chair of a provincial subcommittee “Firearm Forensics” where he was the lead technical advisor on issues relating to the examination and legal classification of prohibited devices in Alberta.
