Course Description

Are you ready to dive into the world of ballistic testing of airguns for the purposes of legal classification? At Bulletproof Forensic Consulting Ltd, we offer a unique and hands-on experience like no other. Our experienced instructor will guide you through: Criminal Code definitions; case law; the "pig's eye test"; instrumentation; energy calculations; and demonstrate the impact that shape and size have on a low-velocity projectile's ability to cause serious bodily injury. With live fire demonstrations on pig's eyes and tissue simulants, you'll gain first-hand knowledge and practical skills to help you become an expert in this fascinating topic. We will address many misconceptions surrounding airgun projectiles and their potential to penetrate the eye, so join us and unlock the secrets of airgun ballistic testing! About your instructor: This course is provided by Darryl Barr, a Forensic Scientist with over 30 years of experience in examining and classifying firearms. Darryl is well-informed on the current challenges with examining and classifying airguns, and has experience assisting Crown prosecutors and investigators nationally with issues involving airgun examination and legal classification. Darryl was a recent representative and co-chair of a provincial subcommittee “Firearm Forensics” where he was the lead technical advisor on issues relating to the examination and legal classification of airguns in Alberta.
